Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what data SamCalculator collects, how that data is used, who it is shared with, and the rights you have over it. It applies to the website at samcalculator.com and every calculator and content page under that domain.

Plain-English Summary

  • Every calculator runs in your browser. Your inputs (weight, salary, dates, text, etc.) are never sent to our servers.
  • We do not require an account, email address, or any sign-up to use any calculator.
  • We do not run third-party advertising, retargeting pixels, Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, or session-replay tools on this site.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
  • Some calculators save your last inputs in your browser's localStorage so the form remembers your preferences between visits. This stays on your device and can be cleared at any time from your browser settings.
  • Standard web-server logs and Vercel infrastructure logs may record IP address, user agent, and request path for security and abuse prevention.

Data We Process

Calculator inputs. Everything you type into any calculator on this site is processed entirely client-side in JavaScript. We have no server endpoint that receives, stores, or analyses your inputs. Closing the tab clears the in-memory data; clearing your browser's site data clears any localStorage we have saved on your device.

localStorage. Tools that benefit from remembering your preferences (for example, the word counter saves your draft text, and the password generator remembers your length/complexity preferences) use the browser's built-in localStorage API. This data never leaves your device. You can clear it from your browser's site-data settings at any time.

Server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically logs basic request metadata — IP address, user agent, referring URL, and the requested path — for periods consistent with their standard retention. These logs exist solely for security, abuse mitigation, and operational debugging. We do not link them to any personal identity.

Contact emails. If you write to support@samcalculator.com or editorial@samcalculator.com, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use those messages only to reply and, where relevant, to file the correction or feature request. We do not add support correspondents to any marketing list.

Cookies

SamCalculator does not set any first-party tracking or advertising cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, or any similar third-party tracker. If this changes in the future, this policy will be updated, the change will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above, and (where required by law) a consent banner will be shown before any non-essential cookie is set.

Third-Party Services

Vercel. The site is hosted on Vercel and served from their global edge network. Vercel acts as our processor and is bound by their own security and privacy commitments.

Fonts. The "Space Grotesk" font is served directly from this site's own origin — no request is made to Google Fonts, Adobe Fonts, or any third-party font CDN.

We do not embed advertising SDKs, retargeting pixels, A/B-testing scripts, or session-replay tools on any page.

Children

SamCalculator is a general-audience website and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through a support email, contact support@samcalculator.com and we will delete it.

Your Rights — California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to (1) know what personal information we have collected about you, (2) request deletion of personal information we hold about you, (3) correct inaccurate personal information, (4) limit the use of sensitive personal information, and (5) not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

Because we collect no personal identifiers tied to calculator usage, the only data we may hold about you is any email correspondence you have sent us. To exercise any of these rights, contact support@samcalculator.com from the email address whose records you want us to access or delete; we will respond within 45 days as required by the CCPA.

We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, so no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link is required. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than those permitted under §7027 of the CCPA regulations.

Your Rights — EEA, UK & Swiss Residents (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the right under the GDPR / UK GDPR to: access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, port, and object to processing of any personal data we hold about you, and to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.

Lawful basis. Our limited processing of server-log data and support correspondence is based on legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in operating a secure website and replying to user enquiries. Calculator inputs are processed locally on your device and are not received by us, so they do not constitute "processing" by SamCalculator under the GDPR.

Retention. Vercel server logs are retained per Vercel's standard policy. Support emails are retained for as long as the support thread is active and up to 24 months thereafter, then deleted.

Security

The site is served only over HTTPS with HTTP Strict-Transport-Security enabled. We deploy strict Content-Security-Policy, X-Frame-Options, X-Content-Type-Options, and Referrer-Policy headers, and disable powerful browser features (microphone, geolocation, payment, USB) by default via the Permissions-Policy header, with camera access restricted to our own same-origin tools (such as the Barcode Scanner) and blocked for any third party. We do not run a database of personal information, which materially reduces the attack surface for a breach.

Changes to this Policy

If we materially change this policy — for example, adding analytics or advertising — we will update the "Last Updated" date and, for material changes, surface a notice on the homepage for at least 30 days. We will never apply material changes retroactively.
